No Need To Be Intimidated by Smart Devices

 I install, configure, and integrate "Smart" devices and systems for a diverse group of customers.  Between senior citizens,  handicapped persons, and small businesses and offices, I'm able to continuously build my experience and translate those among the others.

Whether it's installing devices to improve productivity or adding these devices and systems to assist people dealing with difficulties and accommodating disabilities,  Smart devices, assistants, and systems can go a long way to being very useful in those situations and environments. 

In the early days when these devices and systems were being introduced and early adoption was still feeling its way through, there were plenty of examples of how and where the technology still needed to mature and be further developed.

Whether many people realize it or not, these devices and technology actually have matured and improved in many ways since then.  Privacy and handling of system information,  such as how and when devices "listen" and store commands and other sounds they hear have been advanced and fine tuned a lot.  That's probably the biggest area of concern people bring up to me.

Also, there are now competitive devices and systems available now that allow users to stay "off-line" and not use the common, corporate based systems like Alexa or Google Home.  The development and improvement of interactive and interoperative technologies has been increasing at phenomenal rates.

Even the common, online offerings from Google, Amazon, and others are becoming more and more compatible with each other.  Again, companies are understanding that interoperability and compatibility are of increasing importance to customers over being licked into one brand or base system.

The biggest thing to having a successful experience using Smart devices and systems is good planning and proper implementation.   So many problems I get called in to solve are due to poor planning and incorrect installation or configuration. 

The basis for a good Smart system in a shop, office, or home, is an optimal computer network.   Which usually involves both wifi and wired connectivity.  When the computer network is functional and optimized correctly,  the Smart "network" of devices will be much more able to operate to its best capabilities.
